                Season

             2008-2009

Well here we go again the start of a brand new season. Competing against old rivalries and new ones, clubs are reminded about the FAW clampdown over insulting and abusive behaviour.

FIXTURES HAVE NOW BEEN UPDATED

Due to some club officials, Player and even Parents phoning League officials and visiting their homes The league Management would like to remind clubs of Rule 52. Referees

As you all know there is only a limited number of referees for the Bridgend and District League and most coaches are having to referee their own matches. We would like to remind all clubs that whoever (coach) stands in the middle of the pitch for the duration of that game is taking on the referees role and has the exact rights as a referee would have. The fee for the game would be paid to them, and coaches are reminded that should they referee a game and bookings are made they should place the name of the player and the club they play for on a sheet of paper and send it into the South Wales Football Association:

Assistant Hon. Secretary,                                                                                     Mr M Adams,                                                                                                   24 Ty Crwyn,                                                                                           Church Village,                                                                                      Pontypridd.                                                                                                    CF38 2HX

We know the problems that are endured by coaches having to referee thier own games and we know that you are coaches and not qualified referees and that mistakes will be made. As a result Gary has Spoken to the Referees society and Graham  Evans  the  senior  referees  instructor  is   prepared  to  come  down  one  evening  to  spend  an  hour  or  so  with  all  interested  parties, ie: parents, managers, coaches, secretaries  to  go  through  all  aspects  of  what  you  should  or  shouldn't  do  and  what  you  can  and  can't  do  should  you  actually  referee  a  game  in  our  league  when  there  are  no  referees  available. He  will  give  you  all  the  advice  you  need  and  it  could  be  very  useful, provided  there  are  enough  people  interested. The League would like to point out that this talk is being put on due to your views as coaches and is vital that you please take an interest.

2) Graham  is  also  going  to  run  a  full  referees  course  which  will  be  2  hours  one  night  a  week  for  8  weeks. we  have  at  the  moment  12  definite's  but  at  least  another  10  have  shown  an  interest. If  you  can  give  Gary  the  names  and  contact  telephone  numbers  of  those  interested, Graham  will  contact  them  all  personally   and  arrange  the  course  for  the  night  that  it  suits  the  majority. I  would  appreciate  a  rapid  response  to  this  as  we  can  then  get  the  course  started, as  I'm  sure  you  appreciate  the  need  for  more  referees...
